LAKELAND, Fla. -- It's been a bad week to be a left-hander on the Detroit Tigers' pitching staff.
But Friday should bring more clarity about the short-term status of four southpaws.
The results of Travis Wood's MRI should indicate whether he tore a ligament in his left knee when it gave out during a rundown play on Thursday. Manager Ron Gardenhire seemed to fear a negative prognosis after the game.
"We'll let (the medical staff) do their thing and find out exactly what he's got, but it doesn't look good," Gardenhire said. "It sucks.
