Wings’ Tatar takes flight after teaming with Zetterberg

Remember last summer how Tigers outfielder Justin Upton slumped much of the season, then got red-hot the final six weeks and ended up with big offensive numbers?

The Red Wings have their own version of Upton.

Tomas Tatar is likely to finish with respectable, even team-leading, goal-scoring statistics given his late-season upswing.

Tatar had five goals in the last 10 games (with two assists) entering Wednesday night’s game in Colorado and leads the Red Wings with 17 goals (33 points).

Tatar had 21 goals last season, and 29 in 2014-15, with fans — and the Red Wings — expecting and waiting for a similar 29-goal season ever since.
