Ottawa, Ontario — Defenseman Nick Jensen is showing he could be one of the building blocks for the Red Wings.
He entered Tuesday’s game with two straight two-point games, including two assists in Monday’s 5-4 shootout win over Ottawa.
Jensen had the primary assist on goals by Frans Nielsen and Dylan Larkin (shorthanded), with his mobility and keen passing instincts on display on both plays.
That gave Jensen, 26, consecutive two-point games — he had a goal and assist Saturday against Toronto — and a glimpse of the potential Jensen has as an offensive defenseman.
