Jonathan Bernier has just four wins, but he's played better than that. Filmed Dec. 15, 2018 in Uniondale, N.Y. Helene St. James, Detroit Free Press
UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Jonathan Bernier knows not to look at his numbers.
He has played better than they reflect, in tough situations. He was a major reason why the Detroit Red Wings emerged with a point from Saturday’s game at Nassau Coliseum, which saw him make 45 saves in a 4-3 shootout loss. The New York Islanders benefited from six power plays — they only scored on one, but the Wings had problems getting the puck out of their own zone.
