Gustav Nyquist scored the only goal of the skills competition Thursday and the Red Wings stayed unbeaten in eight shootouts this season with a 5-4 victory over the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena.
The win came on the heels of Wednesday's disappointing 3-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, the NHL's worst team.
Arizona is only one spot ahead of the Avalanche in the NHL's overall standings but that didn't mean much to the Red Wings, who were in desperate need of a victory after losing six of their previous seven games.
