Intrasquad scrimmages are much more important during this shortened training camp with no preseason games.
The Detroit Red Wings, following four days of practices, will line up against each other Tuesday morning in their first of three scrimmages that will go a long way toward settling some lineup spots and, more importantly, preparing them for the regular season opener Jan. 14.
“I think our guys understand we have to use these scrimmages as both springboards to get ready for the season and also to figure out who’s going to be in what spots,” coach Jeff Blashill said.
