Time for Detroit Red Wings' Dennis Cholowski to show he belongs in this rebuild

With the hockey world on pause because of the coronavirus pandemic, this is an opportunity to check in on Detroit Red Wings prospects.

This edition takes a look at defenseman Dennis Cholowski.

When the Wings selected Cholowski in the first round, 20th overall, in 2016, he was billed as a mobile puck mover with high-end offensive skills who modeled his game after Scott Niedermayer.

Four years later, the Wings are still waiting to find out what they have in Cholowski. The 6-foot-2, 197-pound Canadian has appeared in 88 games over two seasons, demoted to finish in the minors both years.
