BUFFALO, N.Y. — Taro Hirose appeals because of his creativity with the puck, enabling nifty passes that lead to scoring chances.
His challenge is to demonstrate he is skilled enough to overcome a lack of size and speed and be of help to the Detroit Red Wings.
The team needs more offensive players in the lineup, and that’s led to Hirose’s third opportunity to make his case at the NHL level.
