Sweden, Red Wings' Gustav Nyquist win World Championship gold

Sweden defeated Switzerland 3-2 in a shootout Sunday to win the World Championship for the second year in a row.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Filip Forsberg scored consecutive goals in the shootout after Switzerland's Sven Andrighetto scored on the first shootout attempt.

Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist scored in regulation, tying the game at 1-1 at 17:54 of the first period after Nini Niederreiter opened the scoring at 16:38.

Sweden, which never led in regulation, tied it at 2-2 on Mika Zibanejad's goal at 14:53 of the second, after Timo Meier had put the Swiss ahead.

Nyquist finished the tournament with four goals and one assist in nine games, posting a plus-3 rating while averaging 16:13 in ice time.
