— Evgeny Svechnikov didn’t take it as a disappointment or a letdown when he was sent back to Grand Rapids late this season.
Svechnikov played two games with the Red Wings — scoring the winning goal in the shootout April 3 against Ottawa — and didn’t look out of a place for a 20-year-old in his first full professional season.
But, everyone knew this was only going to be a brief look-see for Svechnikov, and that’s what it was.
Still, rather than sulking, Svechnikov did the exact opposite.
“It made me more hungry,” Svechnikov said.
