Svechnikov leaves Wings impressed after two-game stint

Detroit – Evgeny Svechnikov is headed back to Grand Rapids but not before leaving a positive impression with the Red Wings in two games after being called up from the minor league affiliate earlier this week.

Svechnikov, 20, was reassigned Wednesday back to the Griffins, having shown all the hype surrounding the 2015 first-round prospect is warranted.

The main highlight was Svechnikov’s winning shootout goal Monday when Red Wings defeated Ottawa, 5-4.

But more so, it was Svechnikov’s offensive ability, strength on his skates, and determination to be an impact player that make him an intriguing prospect.
