Fabbri is the sixth player Yzerman has added to the roster. He signed free agents Patrik Nemeth and Valtteri Filppula, and traded for Adam Erne, Alex Biega and Perlini. Erne cost a fourth-round pick in 2020, Biega cost underachieving prospect David Pope, and Perlini cost defense prospect Alec Regula, a third-round pick from 2018.
Yzerman’s moves have all been attempts to patch a rebuild that still needs another wave of prospects to become impact players before the playoffs are realistic. That isn’t happening this season.
