It apparently won't be long until the Stanley Cup no longer features Gordie Howe's name.
The Detroit Red Wings legend won the Stanley Cup four times from 1950-55 but now that the Pittsburgh Penguins have been crowned the 2017 champions, the bottom ring on the Cup featuring the winner's names is full.
That means the oldest panel on the Cup will have to be removed after next season to make room for the 2018 winners.
The panel that will be removed, according to a story by Ken Campbell of The Hockey News, is the one featuring the Red Wings' four Stanley Cup winners from the 1950s.
