GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Nick Jensen is figuring out how to contain wily, offensive players without incurring too much risk.
As the Detroit Red Wings close in on the end of the regular season, their playoff picture all but mathematically shuttered, one benefit of their situation is the young defensemen who are learning valuable lessons as they play important minutes. Take Jensen: He has gone from third-pair duty to playing either with Niklas Kronwall or Danny DeKeyser, either one a pairing used against the opponent’s top lines. Jensen makes a good fit anywhere because of his speed and competitiveness.
