Red Wings' Tomas Tatar to have shoulder surgery

DETROIT - Detroit Red Wings forward Tomas Tatar will have surgery on his shoulder Thursday to address a lingering issue.

General manager Ken Holland will need 4-6 months of rehab. Tatar said he hopes to be ready for the start of the season.

"I should be good for next season," Tatar said Tuesday, during locker cleanout at Joe Louis Arena. "Hopefully, everything will go as we plan so far and there will be no problem."

Tatar, who the team with 25 goals, is glad to get it taken care of as soon as possible in the off-season.
