Red Wings self-destruct in 6-1 Bruins beatdown

Boston — Three-fourths of the way through a season of grave disappointment, this one was really ugly.

The Red Wings had one of their best first 10 minutes in a string of recent outings, and then the game detonated in their faces. It was as if they were suddenly college guys playing against the big, bad Bruins of old.

The next 10 minutes were about the worst in the Wings’ recent history.

Some disappointing performances in the past two years may have approached it. But this was really lousy.

They gave up three goals in 2:25, without offering much in the way of resistance.
