The Red Wings have re-signed winger Martin Frk to a one-year contract, according to the team.
Frk had an eventful season, being claimed on waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes only to wind up back with the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he then helped his team clinch a Calder Cup title — he even scored the Cup-clinching goal.
Hard to say what is to become of Frk, but it’s likely he ends up back on waivers. Frk hasn’t made his mark in the NHL yet, and it’s not certain that he’ll get that shot with the Red Wings as he’s been surpassed by other prospects on the depth chart.
