Red Wings Re-Acquire Goaltender Tom McCollum for Conditional Draft Pick

As of now, this is all we have on this transaction.

Tom McCollum last played in the NHL in 2014-15 as a member of the Red Wings (2 games).

Since then, he played in the AHL and ECHL. The 27 year old is on a two-way contract ($650,000 NHL salary, $200,000 Minors salary). At the end of this year, he’ll be a UFA.

He was drafted in the first round (30th overall) by Detroit in the 2008 Entry Draft.

This seems to just be a depth move, and unless the Red Wings make several moves at goaltender, it would be surprising to see him in Detroit this season.
