As they look to advance in the playoffs, Martin Frk is among the reasons the Grand Rapids Griffins can close out swiftly.
Since joining the Griffins for their second-round series after sitting out the first round with an injury, Frk has crammed two goals and three assists into four games against the Chicago Wolves. The Detroit Red Wings prospect has helped the Griffins take a 3-1 lead headed into Saturday’s game at Chicago. If necessary, Game 6 would be Monday in Grand Rapids.
Frk had a tumultuous start to the 2016-17 season: The Wings put him on waivers in early October and he was claimed by the Carolina Hurricanes.
