Three games in three days proves to be too much for Winged-Wheelers; Nosek scores, Howard stops 28 shots
RALEIGH, N.C. -- The night turned historic for the Detroit Red Wings.
As they sagged through playing their third game in as many days, the story of Tuesday night came about half an hour after the Wings lost, 4-1, to the Carolina Hurricanes at PNC Arena. The Wings’ regulation loss, combined with Boston and Toronto winning, eliminated the Wings from the playoff race, ending a streak that began in 1991, lasted 25 consecutive seasons and included four Stanley Cup parties.
