Red Wings pack a punch on offense in 4-2 win over Bruins

BOSTON — The Detroit Red Wings punched and scored their way to a rare victory in hostile territory.

Their Saturday date with the Boston Bruins at TD Garden ratcheted to a raucous level in the second period as the intensity ignited into a near melee, with both goalies, Jimmy Howard and Tuukka Rask, restrained by officials. The night ended with the Wings celebrating a 4-2 final. It’s the first time they have won in Boston since Oct. 14, 2013.

The Wings had built a one-goal lead going into the third period, but Ryan Donato converted blocker-side on Jimmy Howard at 5:31.
