Red Wings' Jeff Blashill: Goals building Michael Rasmussen's confidence

DETROIT - The always serious Michael Rasmussen couldn't contain his excitement after scoring his second goal in as many games Thursday.

The rookie banged in a rebound from the net front on the power play to tie the game at 4:59 of the third period and pumped his fists in a rare emotional display. The Red Wings went on to defeat the New Jersey Devils 4-3 at Little Caesars Arena.

Rasmussen was struggling earlier this season, leading some to wonder whether the Red Wings would return him to his junior club, Tri-City (WHL). But they have made a commitment to keep him, and the 6-6, 221-pound forward is rewarding their faith.
