EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Tasked much of the season with being a shut-down guy, Frans Nielsen relishes the chance to have a little fun with the puck.

The veteran center has been cleared to return to the Wings’ lineup Thursday against the Kings, after sitting for three games while dealing with concussion-like symptoms. Boston’s David Backes was suspended three games for the March 6 shoulder-to-the-head hit, and Nielsen is grateful to have escaped relatively unscathed.
