DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings, for the first time in their history, will take part in the NHL draft lottery, April 29 in Toronto.
The Red Wings have 6.7 percent chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick. That ranks behind Colorado (18 percent), Vancouver (12.1 percent), the expansion Vegas Golden Knights (10.3 percent), Arizona (10.3 percent), New Jersey (8.5 percent) and Buffalo (7.6 percent).
The results of the lottery will be announced shortly after 8 p.m., during live coverage of the event on NBC and CBC, which begins at 7:30 p.m.
The draft is June 23 (first round) and June 24 (second through seventh rounds) at the United Center in Chicago.
