Red Wings F Dylan Larkin finding his edge with special teams play

Dylan Larkin’s drive to make himself a better player is earning him workhorse-like minutes.

Six games into the 2017-18 season, Larkin is the only forward on the Detroit Red Wings who is averaging more than two minutes both on power play and penalty kill. Headed into Wednesday’s game at Toronto Larkin is coming off a single-game career high in minutes, having logged 24:33 Monday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Some of that can be attributed to getting caught out for an long shift here and there, but it also represents the natural progression of how well Larkin played the last two months of last season and in the World Championship.
