Red Wings drop opener 4-2 to Stars at NHL Prospects Tournament

The Red Wings dropped a 4-2 decision to the Dallas Stars in the opening game of the NHL Prospects Tournament on Thursday at Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City.

Elmer Soderblom and Antti Tuomisto scored Detroit's goals, Nate Danielson had two assists and Cross Hanas and Riley Sawchuk had an assist each.

Goalie Sebastian Cossa stopped 14-of-16 shots in 30:08 of ice time. Jan Bednar stopped 10-of-11 shots with the Stars scoring into the empty net with 1:11 left in the third period.

Forward Carter Mazur left the game with a lower body injury and didn't return for the third period.
