It’s amazing to see just how bad the Red Wings are, because so many more people are paying attention to them. If they’re, say, 7-8-2, and sitting in purgatory again, I assume the publicity is much less. But, when you are in dead last (Ottawa is technically tied with them, but Detroit has played 3 more games), are 1-11-1 your last 13 and have lost your last four by 4+ goals, you are a national story because that’s a special level of suck.
