DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings have decided their top pick in 2018 needs some seasoning in the AHL, which was apparent during training camp and the preseason.
The Red Wings assigned forward Filip Zadina to the Grand Rapids Griffins on Sunday.
The Red Wings can recall Zadina anytime they wish to take a look at him.
The club also assigned forwards Dominic Turgeon, Givani Smith, David Pope, defenseman Vili Saarijarvi and goaltender Harri Sateri to the Griffins.
The Red Wings also released forward Jussi Jokinen from his tryout.
