Two weeks ago the Wings sat in 29th place in the NHL standings, giving them 11.5% odds in the April 9 draft lottery of winning the right to select first overall in June’s entry draft. Since then the Wings have been the hottest team in the NHL, with a 6-1 record that’s yielded 12 points – and bumped them to 27th in the standings.
