TRAVERSE CITY - Henrik Zetterberg knew for months this day was approaching. When he stood in front of media Friday to announce that he is done playing hockey, he experienced a mix of relief and disappointment.
He's glad he doesn't have to risk further injury to his back, but said he will miss the game and playing for the Detroit Red Wings, the only NHL organization he has known.
"Obviously, it is emotional," Zetterberg said at Centre I.C.E., during the first day of training camp. "It's been 15 years here. Even though I knew I was on my last couple years, I wish that I could have played a little bit longer.
