Michael Rasmussen called the Detroit Red Wings a historic franchise with an amazing history, a great place to develop and play.
He also knows they like to "over-ripen" their prospects in the minors.
But these Red Wings aren't as deep or strong as teams in the past and need all the help they can get. Could Rasmussen, the 6-foot-6 center Detroit selected ninth overall Friday at the entry draft in Chicago, reach the NHL sooner than many before him?
"That's my goal this summer, to work and improve," Rasmussen said during his media availability at the United Center.
