If the Ilitch family has a new plan for the Detroit Red Wings, they certainly aren’t saying.
The message that came from the Wings' last official day at the Joe on Tuesday was that status quo is fine. Owner Chris Ilitch gave his stamp of approval to general manager Ken Holland and coach Jeff Blashill.
It’s possible that Holland is the person to lead the Wings from the abyss. It’s also possible that Ilitch didn’t want to shake things up too much with a move into a new arena around the corner. Holland, after all, has just a year left on his contract, and replacing the top spot is complicated.
