Jared Coreau on Calder Cup run, future with Detroit Red Wings

When he first joined the Detroit Red Wings organization, Jared Coreau was a spectator for the AHL playoffs.

Four years after watching the Grand Rapids Griffins claim the Calder Cup, Coreau has been the go-to goaltender as the Griffins again have gone four rounds deep. It’s an immensely satisfying position for Coreau to be in, even as his future is uncertain. Coreau’s 31-save performance in Game 4’s 3-2 victory Friday at Syracuse left the Griffins one victory from clinching, and broke the Crunch’s 10-game home winning streak.

In a recent interview with the Free Press, Coreau talked about what this run means to him, and the encouragement he gets from Griffins coach Todd Nelson.
