Detroit — That one-game Red Wings’ win streak is over.
They’re back to losing, and they did a real good job of it Monday against Carolina.
In a game the Hurricanes seemed to have the puck constantly until the Red Wings awoke midway in the third period, Carolina skated to a 3-1 victory at Little Caesars Arena.
The Hurricanes outshot the Wings 39-21, making it an incredibly busy night for goaltender Jimmy Howard.
Andreas Athansiou cut the Carolina lead to 2-1 at 12 minutes, 2 seconds of the third period, converting a 2-on-1 break with Thomas Vanek, Athanasiou's third goal this season.
