DENVER -- Up next for the Detroit Red Wings: an old rival that has fallen on even harder times.
The Wings make their only visit of the season to the Colorado Avalanche tonight (9:30, FS-Plus).
Jimmy Howard is tagged to get the start in net (barring injury, expect the Wings to switch back and forth between Howard and Petr Mrazek for the coming stretch -- the Wings play against Thursday at Arizona, then Saturday when they host the Avalanche, and then open next week with another back-to-back).
Anthony Mantha is back in top-six spot next to Frans Nielsen and Darren Helm after being a healthy scratch for two games.
