Griffins relinquish lead in final minute to lose playoff opener

Manitoba's Michael Spacek scored with 1:09 left Saturday to give the Moose its first lead of the game en route to a 3-2 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins in Game 1 of the Central Division Semifinals.

Spacek's power play goal, with Dylan McIlrath in the penalty box for tripping, was part of a three-goal third period for the Moose captured the postseason opener in Winnipeg.

The Griffins, who dominated in the first period, got goals from Ben Street in the first and Turner Elson in the third.

"Have to give them a bit of credit, they got a few pucks through in the third when we were trying to hold the lead," Street said.
