Grand Rapids Griffins coach Ben Simon was keeping a close eye on the Detroit Red Wings’ first scrimmage Tuesday.
Simon told the media during a Wednesday afternoon Zoom interview that he likes what he has seen so far.
While Simon did not get into player specifics, he has been impressed with the potential a Grand Rapids roster could look like when the American Hockey League season opens Feb. 5.
“When you look at the potential of the players who may get sent down to Grand Rapids, I see a lot of good things,” Simon said.
