Former Red Wing Pavel Datsyuk Wins Olympic Gold

It was the first gold medal at the Olympics for Datsyuk who now joins the Triple Gold Club which includes an Olympic gold medal, Stanley Cup, and an IIHF World Championship title. He is the 38th player to do so in history and the seventh Russian.

Datsyuk joins Henrik Zetterberg in the Triple Gold Club. Zetterberg won a gold medal and World Championship title in 2006.

This is Datsyuk’s second Olympic medal, he won a bronze medal at the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The OAR defeated Germany in the gold medal game in overtime as it finished 4-3.
