For every positive, Red Wings continue being plagued by negatives

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings took a step forward Friday, but then retreated two paces in 2-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets at Little Caesars Arena.

Jimmy Howard was outstanding again, but his teammates continue having trouble scoring.

The Red Wings outplayed the Jets in the first period but were on their heels for most of the second and third and took too many penalties.

They gleaned some positives but still have the worst record in the NHL at 1-7-2.

"The results don't show it. That can be frustrating," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said.
