DETROIT - Luke Witkowski returned to action Monday, after serving a 10-game suspension, and brought with him a fighting spirit to the Detroit Red Wings.
The Red Wings, for the first time in nearly five years, had three fighting majors, two by Witkowski, in a chippy, physical game.
Florida, however delivered the final blow, as Mike Matheson scored at 2:02 of overtime for a 2-1 victory at Little Caesars Arena.
The Red Wings (11-13-6) are 1-5-4 in their past 10 games. They are 0-5 in overtime this season.
James Reimer made 34 saves for Florida (12-14-4).
