Earlier today the Detroit Red Wings placed Finnish-born defenceman Jakub Kindl on waivers. Kindl will have until noon on Sunday to clear waivers, if he does, which is highly unlikely, he will be assigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins. It seems as if we may have the seen the end of Jakub Kindl’s stay in Hockeytown.
Kindl was drafted 19th overall in the first-round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Only Dylan Larkin has been drafted higher (15th overall) by the Red Wings since 1991. It’s hard to imagine that there isn’t a team in the NHL who would let a former first-round defenceman like Kindl slip through the waiver crack before Sunday afternoon.
