I really hoped this would happen. The Detroit Red Wings announced Friday afternoon that Dan Cleary signed a one-year deal to remain with the organization. The 36-year-old left wing returns for what will be another triumphant season of a couple goals and assists that will certainly help the Wings in a handful of games.
The great guy to have in the locker room will bring a veteran presence on both the Wings bench and the luxury box. It’s a win-win for the entire Wings organization.

Despite the fact that Mike Babcock, who lobbied hard to keep Cleary in Detroit, is now in Toronto, the Wings clearly benefit from having Cleary in a lineup bursting with young talent.
