Detroit Red Wings (18-23-7) vs. Calgary Flames (30-13-5)
Hot to handle: When the teams met Jan. 2 in Detroit, the Flames’ top line of Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan and Elias Lindholm combined for three goals and seven assists to hand the Wings a 5-3 loss. Gaudreau hasn’t cooled down since, amassing a team-leading 28 goals and 71 points.
“He’s one of the best players in the league” coach Jeff Blashill said after an optional morning skate at the Saddledome.
