TAMPA, Fla. — The challenge for the Detroit Red Wings is to stick with it even though there is little to feel good about.
They return home to host a New Year’s Eve game against the San Jose Sharks on a six-game losing skid, but encouraged that they are giving themselves a chance.
“I think at least we are competing out there now,” Frans Nielsen said after Sunday’s game at Amalie Arena. “We are fighting for it. We are giving ourselves a chance. We have to make sure we keep this mentality and we will be getting some wins, too.
