Detroit Red Wings prospect Filip Zadina is in holding mode.
He suffered a lower-body injury this past Saturday, casting into doubt his availability for the World Junior Championship.
General manager Ken Holland said Tuesday that Zadina “is day to day. See how he feels tomorrow.”
Zadina, 19, has eight goals and nine assists in 26 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins. The plan had been for him to play Wednesday for the Griffins when they host Cleveland, and then the Wings would release Zadina to represent his native Czech Republic at the 2019 World Junior Championship, which runs Dec.
