So that was much ado about nothing. After several Detroit Red Wings sources denied that Tomas Jurco was close to a two-year deal, he was very much close to signing a two-year deal. From the Wings site:

Yesterday, it was reported by a foreign source that Jurco was inching closer to a–you guessed it–a two-year deal. This was first found by George Malik, who posted the story last night.
