Losing a goaltender was bad enough. Losing again to the Philadelphia Flyers served as a double whammy to the Detroit Red Wings.
Despite a 37-23 shots advantage, the Wings fell to the Flyers, 3-1, at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday evening. The teams were playing for the second time in two days.
Jonathan Bernier was removed after the first period with an upper-body injury. Dylan Larkin was shoved into Bernier in the early going, though it's unclear whether he suffered the injury at that time.
Jimmy Howard, who replaced Bernier, gave up the go-ahead goal to Ivan Provorov just 2:11 into the third period.
