Detroit Red Wings lose Darren Helm (upper body) to injury vs. Devils

NEWARK, N.J. — The Detroit Red Wings will be without one of their top penalty killers after losing Darren Helm to injury.

Helm appeared to hurt a shoulder during the first period of Saturday’s game against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center. The Wings announced the injury as upper body. There was no immediate word on how much time Helm might miss.

Helm has six points in 19 games. He has been a nice fit on Dylan Larkin’s line, helping check opposing top lines. Helm is a go-to guy on the penalty kill, where he averages 2:03 minutes per game.
