The Detroit Red Wings have locked up their top rebuilding block for five years.

Dylan Larkin’s $30.5 million contract reflects the organization’s belief he is the one who will spearhead the effort to regain competitiveness. His character was part of the appeal when he was drafted at 15th overall in 2014, and he made the team a year later, after a stand-out season at Michigan.
