Detroit Red Wings hire ex-Penguins coach Dan Bylsma as assistant

The Detroit Red Wings have hired Dan Bylsma as an assistant coach.

Bylsma, a native of Grand Haven, has considerable experience behind a hockey bench: he coached the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2008-2014, leading them to the 2009 Stanley Cup championship in a seven-game series win over the Wings, and was head coach of the Buffalo Sabres from 2015-17.
